National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

When we were looking at things to do in Cincinnati, we discovered the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. So, after the baseball game, we still some time and were able to fit it into our schedule. It was a good overview of slavery in the United States, although not as good as other museums, like the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

One macabre exhibit were these chains, which were attached permanently onto people's wrists and ankles. Overall, the museum was interesting and worth going to, even if it was pretty light on information regarding the actual Underground Railroad.

This is a symbolic eternal flame for freedom. The views from its outside deck were pretty nice.

One of the most interesting and gruesome exhibits was this "Slave Pen," which was an actual building used to house slaves when they arrived from Africa before they were sold. It was donated to the museum, and moved/reassembled inside the museum for preservation. It was incredibly eerie and not something I had ever come across before. It really made you think about how horrific life must have been for these people.
